I'm sure the older Canvey island people will be very welcoming, but how about the local 15-19 year old chavs? May not so much.

Gavvy - you couldn't be more wrong mate.
The island is over-populated as it is and the traffic problems are horrendous. Having basically lived on the island all my life it was a disturbing watch. They are buying up homes which is going to put up the house prices and it is going to make it even harder for islanders to find a home. The youngsters will have no chance.
They are peaceful people so that's all good but it was said that only about 15% work so most live on benefits and it is not unusual for them to have 7 or 8 kids.
It would appear they have no real desire to integrate so there is plenty to be concerned about. Unsurprisingly the local facebook page is very busy this morning.

to be honest a sparesly populated island is just what they need. they can get on with multiplying there for the next 100 years without rufgling too many feathers. it'll turn into a mini haredi state.

Good TV I thought from both sides.... lived on the Rock... got family and mates there... not one I know has a problem... knowing the Islanders there will be no problems either...

If you think it's ok for these people to question why someone who doesn't look like them is in 'their' neighbourhood then you're a fool.
And they do cause trouble. On certain days their temples blair out horrible music from powerful PA systems all day long. No other group would get away with it.
They've been actively ethnically cleansing Stamford Hill for years, and they're close to achieving their goal.

They are a very segregated community who keep to their own (Religious ones) but they bother no one and are very family orientated good decent people, just not very sociable.
Canvey will lose nothing and gain some very wise and Intelligent people, what's the problem? .

Yeh, they started buying property there last year. And setting up their own 'community'. (School, shops to start with).
Cheaper than Stamford hill etc.
And have also had plenty of run-ins with em when working in Hackney and they tried to poke their hooters in.

you also have to appreciate that once they are in an area they want everyone else out. when we bought that flat the woman had been attempting to sell it to then for about a year and they fucked her about all the time, stole the for sale signs. when we put it on the market I was getting calls from different people about five times a day being told the price was far too high and we'd never sell it. got 4k below the asking price in the end.
